15/01/17A couple of months ago a close friend of my wife and I asked if I would shoot a few images on her upcoming wedding day. The original request was to take a few photos of the Bride (Helen), Bridesmaids and family at Helen's home as they prepared for the wedding car to arrive. I was more than happy to help out and started to plan what images I would take on her big day.
A few weeks passed by and Helen contacted Amanda (my wife) to explain that due to unforeseen circumstances, the official photographer could no longer shoot her big day and would I take on the role of official wedding photographer?
Once I had recovered from the shock of being asked to shoot the entire wedding and after explaining that I had never shot a wedding before, I was happy to accept (if a little apprehensive).
As the day approached, we met up a few times to discuss what images Helen wanted on her day (family groups etc.) and paid the venue a visit to scope out potential image locations and ideas.
The big day arrived and what a day it was. A fantastic day of celebration for Helen and Ricky and their family and I was honoured to be able to capture it for them.
I am still working my way through the images but Ricky and Helen love what they have seen so far.
I couldn't have wished to work with a better couple for my first wedding. They knew what they wanted from the images but were also open to my ideas and I think the results speak for themselves. It was a real honour to capture their special day and Amanda and I wish them all the very best for the future.
Thanks also go to my friend Simon Beynon who assisted with the photos of the Groom, Best Man and Usher and the group photos. His assistance was invaluable and much appreciated.
