The Shambles is a historic part of Chesterfield dating back to the twelfth century. Walk into these narrow streets off Market Place and picture Chesterfield as it was in the middle ages. The timber framed Royal Oak public house, which has been an inn since 1772, was once a rest house for the Knights Templar crusaders.
